Historical notes
In Sicily, the combination of late-Renaissance elements and Catalan-Gothic gave birth to the so-called Rinascimento siciliano . The architect who had an interpreter, through the building up of the Church, was Matteo Carnalivari . The tripartite porch Catalan arch is placed atop a staircase. Inside, the second chapel on the right contains an image of the Virgin of the graces which takes in a baby Jesus adult arm, with the bald head and shrunken. According to the Byzantines, in fact, having always been wise, Jesus could never have been a child. The name comes from the chain attached to the side wall of the building, which was used to close the access from the sea to the old Cala Harbour.
