Historical notes

Is completely incorporated, on the first floor of Palazzo Reale or Normanni . It is dedicated to Saint Peter and was built at the behest of King Ruggero II in 1140. The Cappella Palatina higher is the example from the point of view of historical-artistic heritage, of coexistence between cultures, religions and seemingly irreconcilable ways of thinking between them. The skilful management of Ruggero power II and the involvement of workers bizantine , musulmane and latine , gave birth to the monument designed to synthesize the liturgical needs of the rite latino and the Greek one, and to remember the three monotheistic religions, cristiana and musulmana ebraica ,. The Palatine Chapel was established as a private Chapel of the Royal family, so I am very pregisti with mosaics which is decorated and the Christ Pantocrator. Of great charm is the wooden ceiling, made by Arab workers with the muqarnas, technique above the nave. The ceiling contains the only example in the world of Islamic painting decorations with representations of human figures, within a place of worship.
