Silver, ivory, fabrics and scrolls on display at the Palatine Chapel

The Palatine Chapel, the most beautiful church in the world, the most surprising religious jewel dreamed by human thought such as Guy de Maupassant, defined as a casket, in addition to the Golden mosaics, houses an important wealth of silver, ivory and precious fabrics. This exhibition presents, for the first time, the exhibition of the entire collection of liturgical furnishings and a selection of the finest vestments, valuing a treasure of applied arts little known and rarely used in its entirety.Admiring the seventy silver presented works made by silversmiths of Palermo between the end of the sixteenth century and the second half of the 19th century, you can clearly see the convergence of multiple items, linked both to the will of the customer that the sensitivity of the author and the subject matter that the context in which it was created.The approximately twenty textiles are the oldest and most interesting testimonies of the malicious fire survivors in the sacristy of the chapel on the afternoon of October 27, 1963.
