The calendar is a private and internal environment to the convent of San Domenico, used at one time as the passage and access to a small lounge next library of comp. In this room is preserved even today the magnificent fresco on the wall of a liturgical calendar built in 1723 by the Dominican Father Benedetto Maria Gelding, characterized by the motto "IANI door" or perpetual time Port. The fresco relates to a study paper already shown in Horographia Universalis publishing the same Gelding, then turned to his expressed desire and his hand, even drawing walls. The perpetual calendar represented, covers a period that ranges from 1700 until 2192 and lets you establish through mathematical calculations mixed astronomical foundations, the dates of the most important mobile holidays including Easter and other festivities related to the liturgical year. At the same time, it introduces concepts of astronomy and Geophysics, which are also closely linked to the General principles of Agronomy and then due to ancient traditions and customs of our rustic and rural land of Sicily and the Mediterranean Area. The guided tour will provide a reading in detail of fresco and suggest an interpretative version, allowing you to make a philological and historical excursus on the birth and evolution throughout the centuries, calendar and on its use. Will be part of the cloister and the Sala Santa Barbara, until the Easter Vigil will host the exhibition MISERERE MEI DOMINE, curated by the Architecture projects and Factory run by ars Itiner. The exhibition features photographic reproductions of wooden sculptures (early 19th century) currently held in the "Chapel of the passion or Gravina" in women's Gallery of the Church of St Catherine Virgin and martyr of Piazza Bellini in Palermo, which to his condition of strictly cloistered area for the exclusive use of the Dominican nuns, has never been accessible to any audience. And yet, it will be possible to admire a beautiful wooden statue of Ecce Homo (18th century), Dominican fathers heritage. Time and modes: guided tours for groups of up to 25 people with starting rounds at: 10.00-12.00 -11.00. Contribution in support of the initiative.
