It will be a trip to Burma in the company of a book by a great writer:
"Burmese days" by George Orwell.
A conversation curated by Marcella Croce.

Will follow the screening of the video "OBJECTIVE BURMA".

George Orwell, who died in 1950 at age 47, was a journalist, essayist, writer and activist. Known for two novels written in the 1940s: the political allegory of animal farm and 1984, so celebrate by having given rise to the adjective Orwellian, to define the totalitarianism. Orwell was and remained an inspiration left but policy awareness, even after tragic personal experiences, contradictions and errors of Communism under Stalin led him to be anti-Stalinist and anti-Soviet, clashing with a substantial part of the European left. In 1938, wrote a homage to Catalonia, a diary-report against the Stalinists Spaniards, accused of having betrayed the loyalists and anarchists in Spain.

Marcella Croce was born in Palermo. Learn languages and study the cultures of the world has been and continues to be the main interest of his life. After a degree in English literature at the University of Palermo and a scholarship in the United States, he earned a PhD in English literature at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Is a journalist and collaborates with the newspaper "La Repubblica". On behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been a lecturer in Italian at the University of Isfahan (Iran) and Ritsumeykan University of Kyoto (Japan). Has published several books about Sicilian folk traditions and many foreign countries known travel. From September 2011, is responsible for the Centre's Adventures in the world of Palermo for which organizes cultural activities related to travel (www.marcellacroce.com).
