Seminar: the puppet Museum of Palermo and the puppet theatre

In a decade from Unesco recognition

For 2014 Simbdea and formazione promoted by the seminario of graduate schools in Beni DEA proposes five meetings, with the participation of the Central Institute for demoetnoantropology ICDEA and ICBSA. The first meeting is dedicated to the puppet Museum of Palermo " Antonio Pasqualino " and the puppet theatre, a puppet Opera a decade after recognition UNESCO as a world heritage site. In 2001 the puppet theatre was entered in the first Unesco lists related to living masterpieces, in a preparatory phase of the Convention on safeguarding the intangible heritage of 2003. The puppet theatre is a theatrical tradition dedicated to shows with puppets or puppets, puppets calls widespread in armed southern Italy and especially in Sicily. The origins of the puppets are chivalrous deeds of 19th and narrate Carlo Magno and his Paladins, helping to spread in popular culture themes dear to the epic song, such as a sense of honour, justice, love and battle (www.sitiunesco.it). The meeting will be held on March 20, at 15.30, at the Museum of Arts and popular traditions of Rome. For the Museum President Marianne Vibaek and Pasqualino, will participate the Director Rosario Perricone. The initiative takes place within the framework of collaboration between the two museums which includes the construction of the exhibition "the Knights of the memory" and a series of Opera dei pupi shows. In the past decade from Unesco recognition to date, the puppet lived processes of transformation and development that are of great interest from the point of view of "safeguarding the heritage of humanity". The meeting will take stock of these changes through the experiences of Marianne Vibaek, founder of the Museum along with Antonio Pasqualino and prime mover promoting Unesco, Museum Director Rosario Perricone and master puppeteer Enzo Mancuso (Charlemagne's company of Palermo- www.mancusopupi.it -that will perform for three days the Sicilian puppet Opera in Rome). Marianne Vibaek, Rosario Perricone and Enzo Mancuso dialogue with Peter Clement. Valentina interventions also Gypsies and Alessandra Broccolini (Simbdea Ich). The findings will be of Alessandro Sala (University of Rome). The meeting will be coordinated by Maura Picciau, Director of ICDEA. The seminar will end at 18.30 with the beginning of the show to Orlando and Rinaldo and Angelica love duel, which we consider part of the seminar (the show is a free adaptation of Vincenzo Mancuso to one of the many episodes of the long cycle of Charlemagne and is taken from ancient dishcloths inspired by history of the Paladins of France by Just Saying).
